Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day, mom! <3
Happy Mother's Day!

I am so grateful for all the mother figures in my life, but I'm especially grateful for my own mother, who has been one of my best friends for years!

Speaking of mothers, here is something I've been wanting to write about: what not to say to newly married couples. Maybe I’ll make a detailed post about it later, but for now I’ll write about my number 1 pet peeve.

my main pet peeve (and only a few people have heard me complain) is that when you are newly engaged or married, people seem to think it's their business when you have children.

If someone is old enough to make the decision to marry, they are old enough to decide if they can handle being a parent right off the bat. And, honestly, you're never truly ready for that responsibility until after the fact.

Rather than giving "advice" about when or when not to have kids, maybe just hold your tongue. You can judge all you want, but ultimately that decision is up to the couple. Above all else, be happy and supportive for them. That's all anyone really wants: love and support. You never know whether or not a couple might be having issues with infertility or might have had a miscarriage. And, they aren’t required to tell you about such trials. Think of how heartless it would be for a couple who is trying to have children but haven’t been able to, to hear that they should wait. Wouldn’t that just be a little bit gut-wrenching? Rather than be judgmental with your opinions, refrain from sharing them unless asked.

On this Mother's Day, and upcoming Father's Day, let's remember to think of those who have had miscarriages, and those dealing with infertility as well. Show them some love and support as well.

Preston always wishes me a Happy Mother's Day as well, even though I'm not pregnant, because he is so excited to have children with me! I love that about him.

On this Mother’s Day, let’s wish those mothers in our lives a Happy Mother's day, and maybe show another young couple that we love them as well. You never know what they might be going through.

Love,
Clarissa
